For watch lovers who cannot choose between a steel or a gold watch, two-tone timepieces that combine both metals are a godsend. But it shouldn’t be just about finding a compromise, either. As Tudor demonstrates with its latest assortment of S&G (steel and gold) creations, the combination of both alloys, each bearing its unique properties and sheen, can result in fresh and unique aesthetic expressions. Whether you are seeking a classy watch for work, a regal yet sportive timepiece, or a stylish and practical travel accompaniment, these new Tudor S&G models promise to expand your horological options by more than twofold.
Black Bay 31, 36, 39, 41 S&G
If you desire a Tudor watch that bears the Black Bay’s iconic design but also something with greater refinement, the new Black Bay 31, 36, 39, 41 S&G is a great place to start. The watches come in a variety of case sizes, as well as dial and bezel options to suit different wrists sizes and styles. For those with a penchant for bling, the 31, 36 and 39mm models are also available with option of diamond-set bezels. x.
With the new S&G variants – all driven by Tudor Manufacture automatic calibres - the timepieces are naturally elevated with greater shine and exude an even more regal personality, courtesy of a captivating interplay of tones that come from pairing immaculate steel with the radiance of yellow gold.
Black Bay Chrono S&G
Since Tudor introduced its first chronograph model, the Oysterdate in 1970, the brand’s chronograph creations have evolved in a singularly spectacular fashion, capturing the zeitgeist of the times while expressing unique sportive styles matched by top-notch mechanical performance.
The new Black Bay Chrono is no different. This reference debuted in 2021 to huge demand with steel models sporting ‘panda’-style dials. This year, the coveted range returns in a new S&G reference that injects the collection with a massive dose of style and prestige.
Like before, the Black Bay Chrono S&G is recognised by an engraved tachymeter scale, chronograph display with contrasting sub-dials, and Tudor’s trademark ‘Snowflake’ hour hand. Inside, the watch continues to be powered by the brand’s in-house self-winding chronograph Calibre 5813, a COSC-certified movement with column wheel control and 70-hour power reserve.
At the same time, the Black Bay Chrono S&G looks unequivocally more luxurious, thanks to its combination of steel and gold. The champagne-coloured dial with black counters, fixed yellow bezel with black aluminium tachymetric scale showing gold-plated markings, and 41mm steel case and bracelet with gold centre links, all add to the watch’s gilded chic.
While undeniably luxurious, the watch is also remarkably versatile. Besides the model with gold and steel bracelet, the Black Bay Chrono S&G is also available with a black fabric strap or dark brown leather strap with removable bund – each expressing a different style to match different outfits and personalities.
Black Bay GMT S&G
Now that long-shelved holiday plans can be set in motion once again, it’s also time to consider jet-setting in style. A hit among Tudor fans when it was launched in 2018, the Black Bay GMT makes a comeback in upgraded steel and gold references that are truly in a class of their own.
The Black Bay GMT S&G is already earning its own affectionate nickname - the ‘root beer’, thanks to its gorgeous combination of colours and tones that evoke the famous beverage. The watch’s steel and gold combination come by way of its 41mm steel case with yellow gold winding crown, and yellow gold bi-directional rotating bezel with gold-plated 24-hour marking. Like all Tudor S&G models, the version with bracelet comes with gold centre links.
On top of that, the pairing of the two metals is accentuated by a harmonious marriage of hues. The black and brown colours on the bezel’s anodised aluminum disc are complementary and set off the watch’s bi-metal sheen. So, whether you fancy the full bracelet version, or the models with leather or fabric strap, the Black Bay GMT S&G guarantees chic and inimitable style.
As a true-blue GMT watch, the Black Bay GMT S&G travels as well as it looks. Driven by the self-winding MT5652 Calibre with 70-hour power reserve, the watch displays two time zones simultaneously. It is also a cinch to use, allowing the user to set the local time forwards or backwards in one-hour increments that automatically syncs to the date display. Which only leaves us with the question: Where to, next?
