Everything you need to know about TUDOR’s latest releases at Watches and Wonders 2024

The world’s biggest watch exposition demands the best from its stellar participants. At Watches and Wonders 2024 held in Geneva in April, over 49,000 visitors had the chance to get up close with the latest releases from illustrious watchmaking houses—and they certainly walked away impressed.

Among the most eagerly watched brands at the show, TUDOR surpassed expectations and then some. The brand demonstrated its knack for amalgamating tradition and innovation with a wide variety of timepieces, spanning updates to the coveted Black Bay and the Clair de Rose collections. Read on to get acquainted with the hottest and latest TUDOR watches from Watches and Wonders 2024.

Black Bay 58 18K

A collectors’ favorite since its debut in 2018, the Black Bay 58 received a notable update in 2021 with the release of the Black Bay 58 18k. This year, TUDOR introduces its most luxurious iteration yet, featuring a full 18-carat yellow gold bracelet. This bold and precious addition elevates the watch’s sportive sophistication to new heights.

The Black Bay 58 is loved for its throwback allure. Taking its name from the year 1958—a time when TUDOR first launched the reference 7924 (“Big Crown”) dive watch that was waterproof to 200 metres—the Black Bay 58 lives up to its inspiration with vintage-style homages.

The watch’s versatile 39mm case, distinctive “Snowflake” hands, and subtly domed sapphire crystal case hark back to the iconic TUDOR dive watches of the past. At the same time, the Black Bay 58 is emblematic of the brand’s modern mechanical prowess, powered by the in-house automatic Manufacture Calibre MT5400— a highly precise, COSC-certified movement with 70-hour power reserve.

Here, the Black Bay 58’s most winsome qualities take on a new shine, housed in an 18 carat yellow gold case with a matching three-link bracelet. Sheathed in a lovely satin matte finish, the metal’s unmistakable sheen is paired beautifully with a “golden green” dial that lends a sense of contemporary athleticism to complement the regality. And, as if to remind us that the Black Bay 58 18K is a tool watch at heart, the high-performance Manufacture Calibre MT5400 is proudly displayed via an open caseback.

Black Bay in Monochrome

Do not be deceived by the unassuming appearance of this new Black Bay release. Dubbed by TUDOR as the “third evolution” of the original model that was launched in 2012, this latest iteration reinforces the distinction of the entire Black Bay collection and points the way forward for the iconic timepiece with its mechanical prowess.

Collectors will no doubt be drawn to the 41mm watch’s sleek monochromatic look. Whether paired with a stainless steel three-link “rivet-style” bracelet, a five-link bracelet, or a rubber strap—all featuring TUDOR’s “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp—this Black Bay, with its stark black dial and bezel contrasted by white “Snowflake” hands and hour markers, exude a no-nonsense tool watch sensibility.

While the look is impressive, the watch’s most outstanding characteristic lies under the hood. Powered by TUDOR’s in-house Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, this Swiss-made Black Bay is a certified Master Chronometer, boasting unparalleled performance ratings in robustness, precision, waterproofness, anti-magnetism, and power reserve. For instance, it has magnetic resistance of up to 15,000 gauss and performs with daily accuracy of 0/+5 seconds per day, far surpassing the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) standard of -4/+6 seconds a day.

Black Bay 58 GMT

A mainstay of the Black Bay repertoire since its introduction in 2018, the Black Bay GMT is the perfect traveller’s companion. Smart and casual in equal measure, the watch’s most important feature is its ability to display up to three time zones, making it effortless for the user to keep track of both local and home times while on the move.

For Watches and Wonders 2024, the Black Bay GMT returns in a fresh new size with upgraded performance specs. Housed in a 39mm case, the Black Bay 58 GMT’s new proportions offer unisex versatility while retaining its three-time zone functionality—presented here with a black-and-red bezel with vintage-inspired beige-coloured 24-hour scale.

While slightly more diminutive compared to its predecessors, the Black Bay 58 GMT is equipped with superlative technical qualities. Driven by TUDOR’s in-house GMT Manufacture Calibre MT5450-U with silicon hairspring and a 65-hour power reserve, the Black Bay 58 GMT is Master Chronometer-certified. The certification, issued by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), guarantees unrivalled timekeeping performance, anti-magnetism and robustness similar to the aforementioned Black Bay in monochrome.

Claire de Rose

Away from the Black Bay collection, TUDOR also presented its feminine side at Watches and Wonders 2024. The elegant Claire de Rose collection, named after the French phrase clair de lune (“moonlight”) and TUDOR’s rose logo, makes a return to the spotlight with its characteristic dressy refinement.

There have been two other iterations of the Claire de Rose over the years, spanning different case materials to dial designs. This year, the collection is refreshed with gorgeous blue dials¬¬¬—a beautiful navy hue that has become a staple of TUDOR’s ever since it appeared on a TUDOR Submariner model 1969.

Framed by the Claire de Rose case’s soft curves and paired with its exquisite and supple five-link bracelet, the blue tone exudes a decidedly glamorous feel. On the dial, the seductive midnight sheen is further accentuated by a ridged sunburst pattern in the middle, stately Roman numeral, and, depending on the model you choose, diamonds on the hour markers.

Last but not least, the new Claire de Rose collection is offered in three sizes—26mm, 30mm, and 34mm—all endowed with mechanical pedigree, thanks to TUDOR’s self-winding automatic movements with 38-hour power reserve.
